UAE's CNTXT AI Raises $60M Series A for Sovereign AI Infrastructure

CNTXT AI, a UAE-based company building sovereign AI infrastructure, has closed a $60 million Series A funding round. The round was co-led by AI71 (Abu Dhabi's applied AI company, spun out from the Advanced Technology Research Council) and BlueFive Capital.

The company enables organizations to deploy AI models within their own environments — on-premise or in private cloud — without sending data to external providers. This is what 'sovereign AI' means in practice: full control over data residency, model behavior, and compute infrastructure. For government agencies and regulated industries in the MENA region, this addresses real concerns about data sovereignty and compliance with local regulations.

The funding will support product development, expansion into new markets, and global deployment. CNTXT AI's pitch is particularly relevant in a region where governments are increasingly mandating that sensitive data stay within national borders. The UAE's AI strategy, Saudi Arabia's National Strategy for Data and AI (NSDAI), and similar initiatives across the GCC create a natural market for sovereign AI solutions.

The round also signals that MENA's AI infrastructure ecosystem is maturing. AI71 as a co-lead investor demonstrates the UAE's integrated approach — government-backed research (ATRC) produces applied AI companies (AI71), which then invest in the broader ecosystem. This is a different model from Silicon Valley's venture-driven ecosystem, and it's starting to produce results at scale.

For builders in the region, CNTXT AI's platform could lower the barrier to deploying custom AI models without compromising on data sovereignty — a genuine pain point for healthcare, finance, and government tech.
