UAE's e& Launches OneWork Sovereign Cloud Platform

Channel Post MEA · Story 2 of 4

e& UAE has announced the launch of OneWork, a fully sovereign, cloud-based unified communication and collaboration platform designed to meet national data sovereignty requirements while enabling advanced digital transformation. The platform is hosted and managed entirely within the UAE.

OneWork delivers secure, enterprise-grade communication services — including voice, video messaging, and collaboration tools — from infrastructure that never routes data outside UAE borders. This matters because government agencies, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and other regulated entities face strict data residency requirements that mainstream SaaS platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace cannot always guarantee.

The launch builds on the UAE's broader sovereign cloud strategy. In November 2025, e& partnered with AWS to launch the UAE Sovereign Launchpad, endorsed by the UAE Cybersecurity Council. e& also announced OneCloud, a sovereign hyperscale platform powered by Oracle Alloy, expected to be available in 2026 for government and regulated industries.

For enterprises operating in the Gulf, sovereign cloud infrastructure is becoming a procurement requirement rather than a nice-to-have. Saudi Arabia's NCA (National Cybersecurity Authority) has similar data residency mandates, and the trend is accelerating across the GCC. Organisations that previously delayed cloud migration due to sovereignty concerns now have credible local options.

The platform also positions e& as more than a telecom operator. By building sovereign SaaS products on top of sovereign infrastructure, e& is competing directly with international collaboration platforms for the UAE government and enterprise market — a segment estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

Sovereign cloud is the GCC's answer to data sovereignty in an era of escalating geopolitical tension. For builders targeting Gulf government or healthcare clients, architecting for UAE/Saudi sovereign cloud from day one is now table stakes — bolt it on later and you'll lose deals to competitors who did it from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a sovereign cloud platform?

A sovereign cloud is cloud infrastructure hosted, managed, and operated entirely within a specific country's borders, subject to that country's data protection laws and security requirements. It ensures sensitive data never leaves national jurisdiction.
